Manitoba Street crash leads to impaired, fleeing scene charges

BRACEBRIDGE — A motorist accused of being impaired and fleeing the scene of an accident has been arrested and charged following an accident Thursday night on the main street here.

Police have charged 34-year-old Ryan Smith with impaired driving and fleeing the scene of an accident.

Provincial police say they got a call about a collision on Manitoba Street, November 29, at 9 p.m.

They say one driver fled the scene in his vehicle.

The second driver was able to maintain a visual of the vehicle and directed police to its location.

OPP officers arrived within minutes and conducted an investigation and as a result, have charged 34-year-old Ryan Smith, of Pickering, with the following offences:

Impaired Driving CC 253(1)(a)

Over 80 CC 253(1)(b)

Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident CC 252

Smith is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on December 18, 2018 to answer to his charges.
