Kap man charged with impaired, driving wrongway on Hwy. 11

Police were called Tuesday night to a driver headed southbound in the northbound lanes.

BRACEBRIDGE — A Kapuskasing man faces impaired driving charges after the OPP stopped a wrong-way driver Tuesday night.

Provincial police have charged the male with impaired driving, after he was stopped Highway 11.

They say that on Nov. 20, 2018, just after 7 p.m. police received a call for a vehicle being driven southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 11.

Bracebridge OPP officers were able to stop the vehicle near Highway 117, still being driven the wrong way on the highway.

The driver of the vehicle was immediately arrested for his driving.

After further investigation, the male driver was found to be impaired by alcohol.

Daniel Walker, a 55-year-old from Kapuskasing has been charged with:

CC 253(1)(a) Driving While Ability Impaired- motor vehicle (Alcohol)

CC 249(1)(a) Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle

Walker’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days under the Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) and he is to appear in court on Dec. 11, 2018, to answer to his charges.
