$20,000 in drugs, cash seized in police raid in Bracebridge

BRACEBRIDGE — Two Bracebridge residents have been charged and more than $20,000 in drugs and cash were seized Thursday in a police raid here.

A police drug raid on Manitoba Street in Bracebridge netted $20,000 in drugs and cash Thursday.

The OPP say that on July 19, 2018, the Muskoka Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at a Douglas Street (OPP correction) address with the assistance of Central Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Central Region Canine Unit.

They seized controlled substances including cocaine, fentanyl, carfentanil, heroin, methadone, cannabis marihuana, and MDMA.

Police also seized over $10,000 in currency and three prohibited weapons.

As a result of this investigation the following people have been charged.

Brandon Begin, 27:

Four (4) counts of Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – S. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of Trafficking – S. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Two (2) counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance – S. 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000 – S. 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

Two (2) counts of Possession of a prohibited device – S. 92(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada

Possession of Imitation Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to Section 88 of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Three (3) counts of Possession of Weapon contrary to Prohibition Order contrary to Section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
