Scrap metal spill closes highway off ramp

WASHAGO — A scrap metal spill Sunday night closed traffic for a short time.

Provincial police from the Orillia detachment were dispatched to a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) rollover in the Washago area in the Township of Severn.

They say that on April 29 at about 7 p.m. on County Road 169 near the Highway 11 off ramp the transport carrying scrap metal spilled.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was treated by County of Simcoe Paramedic Services (CSPS).

Severn Fire Department and Canadian National Rail Police (CN) were also dispatched to the scene to assist. The highway was closed for a short period of time for clean-up.
