ATV driver dies after being trapped for hours

CLEARVIEW — A 33-year-old ATV operator is dead after being trapped under the vehicle for several hours before first responders could get to him.

Emergency crews responded an ATV accident Saturday.

Provincial police say that on April 28 members of the Huronia West OPP, Clearview Fire Department and Simcoe County Paramedics responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Lavender Hill Road in Clearview Township.

An All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and a lone occupant were involved in the collision that landed him down a hill.

The initial police investigation indicates the male occupant had been trapped under the ATV for several hours prior to emergency services being dispatched to the collision scene.

The male was freed from under the ATV by emergency responders and transported to Collingwood General and Marine Hospital.

He was then transported to Hospital in Toronto with life threatening injuries. However, he succumbed to his injuries while in Toronto hospital.

The police investigation is continuing.
