Retired lawyer Peter Stuart dies at age 93

GRAVENHURST — Prominent retired Gravenhurst lawyer Peter Stuart has died.

He was 93.

Peter Stuart, 93, died April 12, 2018 in Gravenhurst.

For many years he was a partner in the law practice of Stuart and (Jim) Cruickshank.

A notice on the Cavill-Turner Funeral Home website said he died peacefully on Thursday, April 12, 2018, “in the quiet of his home surrounded by the love and presence of his three children, Anne, Charles and Elizabeth.

Peter Bowman Stuart (born 1925) was the husband of the late Mary Louise Stuart who predeceased him in 1997.

He was the father to Anne Stuart of Guelph, Charles Stuart (Christine Purdon) of Kitchener and Elizabeth Elissa of Switzerland.

And grandfather to Alex Merk, Dylan Cunningham, Mary Stuart and William Stuart.

He will be fondly remembered by Chuck Cunningham, by Mary Leger, and by Nelinda Baas and Lynne MacDonald and his other caregivers and friends.

The Stuart family will receive friends at the Cavill-Turner Funeral Home in Gravenhurst on Monday, April 16, 2018, from 2-4 & 7- 9 p. m.

A funeral Service will be held at St. James Anglican Church in Gravenhurst on Tuesday, April 17 at 1 p. m. Cremation to follow.
