Fentanyl, crack, heroin seized in stop

ORILLIA — Two Orillia men in their mid-20s face a number of drug-related charges after being caught with fentanyl, crack and heroin in a traffic stop.

Provincial police here say they made drug arrests February 28, 2018, at about 9:50 p.m. in a routine traffic stop on Front Street South.

Driver driver Steven McGinn, 26, of was driving while suspended. 

He was arrested and further investigation revealed he was in possession of a controlled substance. As a result the vehicle was searched and police located crack cocaine, heroin, fentanyl and a large amount of cash along with other items consistent with drug trafficking.

McGinn is charged with the following offences:

Three counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance Contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Three Counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Possession of a weapon for a Dangerous Purpose Contary to Section 86(1) of the Criminal Code.

Driving While Under Suspension Contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

Drive Motor Vehicle No Validation on Plate Contrary to Section 7(1)(c)(i) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused was held in custody and is set to appear for a bail hearing on March 8, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Barrie.

His passenger, 25-year-old, Dylan MaCDonald was arrested and charged with the following offences:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance Contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Three Counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Breach of Probation Contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear for April 17, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia.
