Driver hits guard rail, blocks traffic, charged

GRAVENHURST — A driver taken to hospital after hitting a guard rail, blocking northbound traffic on Hwy. 11, has been charged with impaired driving.

Police were called at 1:35 a.m. Friday March 2 after a driver hit a guard rail and was blocking NB Hwy. 11 traffic.

Provincial police say that on Friday March 2, 2018, at 1:35 a.m. OPP from their Bracebridge office were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Highway 11, just south of Gravenhurst.

Officers arrived quickly along with Muskoka EMS to find that the vehicle had crashed into the guard rail and was blocking both northbound lanes.

The driver was taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries.

As a result of their investigation, police have charged 43 year-old Damian KARLSSON of Halton Hills with Over 80 CC253(1)(b) and Fail to Comply with Undertaking CC145(5.1).

The accused received an immediate 90 day driver’s licence suspension and further had his vehicle towed and impounded.

He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on March 27, 2018 to answer to his charges.
