TWO PORT SYDNEY YOUTH, 14-16, CHARGED IN AUG. 26 LIONS CLUB RAINBOW BRIDGE VANDALISM AT MUSKOKA WHARF IN GRAVENHURST

GRAVENHURST — Two of three youth suspects wanted in night-time acts of vandalism were charged yesterday in acts of mischief and vandalism late in August in which signs were torn down and tossed in the water at the new Lions Club Rainbow Bridge pet memorial site.

On September 16, police arrested and charged the two Port Sydney youths, aged 14 and 16, with “mischief.”

They are to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice — Youth Court — in Bracebridge on November 5.

Their identities are protected under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

Just after midnight August 26, a group of five people walking on the boardwalk at the Gravenhurst Wharf caused significant damage.

The suspects tore down two banner style signs, along with another placard that was affixed to the railing and another nearby sign and threw them into the water.

The investigation is ongoing and police are again asking the public’s help in identifying the remaining three individuals.

They are described as:

One male party wearing white shoes, dark sweat pants and a grey long sleeve shirt with very short dark hair;
One female with long dark hair and glasses, dark jeans, white shoes and a dark shirt;
Another female had long light brown hair, blue jeans and a sheer see-through top.

All involved appear between the ages of 14-19 years of age.
