THREE PORT SYDNEY YOUTH CHARGED WITH 10 COUNTS OF MISCHIEF AFTER ROCK-THROWING INCIDENTS IN GRAVENHURST EARLY YESTERDAY MORNING

GRAVENHURST — After receiving surveillance footage and information from members of the public, police have arrested and charged three Port Sydney youths — aged 14, 16 and 17 years old — each with 10 counts of mischief in Gravenhurst early yesterday.

They say that on Wednesday, September 16, officers responded to multiple reports of “mischief” that occurred during the very early morning hours in the town of Gravenhurst, between about 1:30-3 a.m.

Parked vehicles were damaged after rocks were thrown from a moving vehicle resulting in smashed windows.

They say that at of now 10 vehicles parked on First Street South, Winewood Avenue West, Muskoka Road South, Main Street and Oriole Crescent were damaged.

As a result of their investigation, surveillance footage and public information, police arrested and charged the youth.

They will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice Youth Court in Bracebridge November 5, 2026.

Their identities are protected under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

Police continue to asking for more information from the public as there may be more victims who have not yet come forward.

Area residents are also asked to check any home and business surveillance footage; the suspects were operating a dark pickup truck.

First Street victim ‘mad’ at door cam company

Amber Goltz was among the early morning victims.

An early riser to go to work, she went out to her SUV parked in front of her house on First Street and saw the damage at 4 o’clock.

“I just thought it was somebody I knew who was mad at me.”

And she dismissed it, not even bothering to report it to police two blocks away.

“At that point in time, what was done was done.”

The owner of Beaky Boys cleaning service said she was as surprised that her door bell camera didn’t capture the incident which happened shortly before she awoke and discovered it.

Goltz said she hadn’t heard anything beforehand.

Goltz called the incident “senseless” and at first didn’t even report it, thinking it was maybe just someone “mad at me.” But she was more angry with her door cam provider.

She called the company she pays to monitor the door cam.

“And they said the plan I pay for apparently doesn’t cover 24/7. It only covers sometimes in certain motions.

“So I was so mad and I called them again and said, ‘What if I upgrade (the plan) can I get the footage from last night?’ They said no.

“I asked them if it was possible. I said it was a police situation.”

Goltz did eventually talk to police,

“They came by today. They were going up and down the street asking people for footage.”

Police now say that 10 vehicles were damage in the 90-minute crime spree that could end up amounting to several thousand dollars in windshield replacements.

The camera plan Goltz has “apparently only covers motion” close to her front door to activate.

And you didn’t hear your car alarm go off?

“No, no, no! I couldn’t really see it, it was so dark.

“It sucks. It’s a son of a b****. Like a ton of people got nailed. It was stupid, you know. It’s just nonsense.”

She said: “I work, I get up early. I have a commercial cleaning business. I got up early to clean and then I just found this rock … on the roof.

“Honestly, I thought maybe somebody was mad at me. But then when I heard what happened, I was just like, oh my God. Just senseless.”

Goltz said nothing like this has happened to her.

“No, no, no.”

And she hopes never again.
