GRAVENHURST — Whether you can sing like a bird or your preferred audience is in the shower — maybe even at a Karaoke bar — the ever popular Elderberries Choir may be your calling.
They have a new website up at https://elderberrieschoir.ca/ and as they begin season’s rehearsal Tuesday Sept. 8 drop in 2:30 to 4:40 p.m.
No auditions required.
If you’ve heard one of their great concerts you know what I mean about singing, choirs and lots of fun for all.
According to the website they are “a group of people who love singing and have fun doing it.”
Based in Gravenhurst, members come from Muskoka and beyond. We are a community choir and everyone is welcome to join us. There are no auditions.
“We sing in four-part harmony (soprano, alto, tenor and bass) and our repertoire ranges from popular songs and to Canadian folk music to classical and modern choral arrangements.”
Director Louise Jardine and 50 other singers will warmly welcome you out.
Just ask chorister Jack Cline: “I love to sing, and this choir has become one of the happiest parts of my week. Even on days when I’m dragging my feet, the moment we start warming up together, something inside me lifts. I’ve found friends here, and I’ve grown more confident than I ever expected just by showing up and sharing music.

Here are a few important details regarding registration and joining:
Trial Period: You are welcome to attend up to three practices for free before you have to make a final decision and pay your fees.
- Music provided: Once you officially join, you will be assigned a choir number and handed the sheet music for current rehearsals. During your trial period, you will just return the borrowed music at the end of each practice.
- Voice placement: If you do not know whether you sing soprano, alto, tenor or bass, Jardine will help place you.
