JUDY’S BACK WITH MUSKOKA SANDS HISTORY TALK WEDNESDAY AUG. 26 AT GRAVENHURST LIBRARY
GRAVENHURST — She’s back … tomorrow night, 6:30 p.m.
Judy Humphries returns with another of her amazing and fun history talks about Gravenhurst at the Gravenhurst Library.
After a postponement, local archivist and historian Humphries is back telling tales of the “The Sands,” as many locals still refer to today’s Taboo Resort.
The Muskoka Sands — and previously Muskoka Beach Inn — was a Muskoka Lakes landmark of the 1950s right through to the 1990s and a little beyond before fire destroyed another of the Lakes’ great resorts.
With its beach, cabin accommodation and hotel overlooking Lake Muskoka and incredible “Panorama” dining room and musical offerings in the lodge and Boathouse, it was the place to be in summer — and year-round.
