FAST & FURIOUS OFSSA PLAY SHOWS FITNESS & FINESSE OF HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS WHO BROUGHT THEIR A-GAME TO GHS, BML, ST. DOMS, HHS

MUSKOKA — Many don’t drive, most came by bus (far), some walked and a few may have travelled with parents and even grandparents.

But when it comes to teenage guys with lots of spirit, testosterone and get-up and go on the court, Paul Walker and Vin Diesel belong behind the wheel — not serving up spin on a volleyball.

Racing and smashing hot rods, maybe, but a wicked spike over an 8-foot net when you’re heads above it is as fast and furious for volleyball players, coaches, friends and fans at any level as any 9 movie sequels.

This past weekend’s provincial OFSSA high school A-level volleyball championships provided as much leaner, cleaner action.

“Proud” GHS coach Diana Clarke summed up three days of play best saying afterwards adding “a lot of teams play AA schools depending on how big their association is. But you can play double A and triple A schools in tournaments — as we did. It doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a better school. Just a larger population.”

So nothing wrong with smaller schools or players.
