BLUE JAYS WORLD SERIES FEVER IN GRAVENHURST HOT AS JOE CARTER’S BAT AND A SCALPED TICKET

GRAVENHURST — Who’s gotta ticket? Who’s got single?
Not Ken Little. But you never know tonight.
The Muskoka Real Estate Services Inc. Broker told Rotarians a humourous story yesterday about how he scalped two Jays tickets when they won their first World Series in 1992 against Atlanta.
On a whim he drove down from his Kahshe Lake home.
“Who’s got a single?”
Then someone said “I got two good seats. I guarantee.”
“But I only need one,” said Little.
So, a stiff $300 later, the super fan had a pair and a spare he looking to sell.
“Who’s needs a single?”
“You got a single?” said the man flashing his badge. “Got another?”
“Not if you’re asking,” said Little.
After giving the cop his ID and with the promise of “… we’ll be in touch” the transaction was over.
Inside the SkyDome Little was alone in a row of seats behind home plate where the players’ wives were sitting next to Tommy Lasorta the LA Dodger player and manager great behind home plate.
Luckily Little still hasn’t received his confiscated scalping citation.
It reminded Rotarian John Cooper to mention that when Joe Carter hit his famous game-winning walkoff home run in 1993 to beat the Chicago White Sox he used a “Cooper bat.”
Fellow Rotarian Dave Reid is so “excited” to see the Jays and Dodgers World Series start tonight that he has to watch it home alone with his son Devon, who is also a big fan who doesn’t mind betting on the odd pitch.
They’ll be glued to the front of their 85-inch TV between 8-11 p.m. with mom Sherri and the same tomorrow night and next week.
