BODY FOUND IN REMOTE AREA NEAR HARDY LAKE ROAD TORRANCE BEFORE NOON MONDAY

TORRANCE — A body discovered here in a remote area near Hardy Lake Road, just past noon, yesterday has police looking for help identifying the victim.

They say that on Monday, September 15, shortly after 12 p.m., the OPP responded to the report of a deceased person being found.

The road is near Hardy Lake Provincial Park and nt far from the popular Hardy Lake hiking rails west of Gravenhurst toward Bala.

They believe there is no immediate threat to the general public at this time.

Investigators are urging anyone who was in the Hardy Lake Road area between Sunday, September 14 and yesterday or may have dashcam footage or other relevant information to contact police.

They say even footage that may appear unrelated could contain critical details that support the investigation.

The investigation is being conducted by the Bracebridge OPP Crime Unit under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Assistance is being provided by OPP Forensic Identification Services.

The body was found near the Hardy Lake Provincial Park and the popular Hardy Lake Trails off Hwy. 169, which is west of Gravenhurst toward Bala in Muskoka Lakes Township.

Police are looking for anyone near Hardy Lake Road Sunday or Monday or who may have dashcam video of the area. They say any other nearby video could also help them with their investigation in to a body reported found yesterday just after noon.
