FINAL MAY COUNT NOW 21 FOR NUMBER OF IMPAIRED DRIVERS CHARGED IN SOUTH OF MUSKOKA
MUSKOKA LAKES — Police have charged another driver with impaired driving, bringing the total of drivers charged in the south of Muskoka to 21.
On May 31, at 11:45 p.m., an officer patrols proactively patrolling Muskoka Road 118 in Muskoka Lakes Township and conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle driving in a concerning manner, they say.
Taylor Devitt, 29, of Gravenhurst, was charged with Operation while Impaired and Operation while Impaired – Over 80.
She is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on July 8, 2025.
Police say impaired driving continues to be a significant factor impacting the safety of Muskoka roads, if you are concerned that someone is driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, call 911 to notify police.
Traffic safety remains a top priority of the OPP and a key component of its public safety mandate. All drivers have a role to play in road safety. Being aware of their surroundings and own driving behaviour goes a long way to ensuring we eliminate preventable collisions.
Police say there is no excuse for impaired driving.
Charges could have easily been avoided had the driver planned ahead before consuming alcohol or drugs. Don’t include alcohol or drugs in any plans to drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another option that takes driving out of the picture altogether.
