MAN, 33, CHARGED AFTER VEHICLE BREAK-INS AT NORTH END OF GRAVENHURST FRIDAY

GRAVENHURST — A Gravenhurst man was in bail court this morning facing 10 charges after a rash of vehicle break-ins here Friday at the north end of town.

Police have charged the 33-year-old with multiple criminal offences.

They say that on July 21 OPP received multiple reports from several residents in the area of Lorne Street telling police their vehicles had been entered and various items stolen during the early morning hours of that day.

The investigation was conducted with the assistance of a south Muskoka OPP Scenes of Crime Officer and police subsequently arrested and charged Randy Shanks with the following:

  • Theft CC 322(1) X 3
  • Mischief CC 430(1)(a) X 2
  • Trespassing at Night CC 177 X 5

Shanks was held in custody to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge today, on Monday July 24, 2023, to answer to his charges.

Police remind residents to ensure that their vehicles are locked and if possible, parked in an area that provides lighting.

Several residents in the Lorne Street north neighbourhood had their vehicles burgled early Friday in Gravenhurst.
