TRANSPORT DRIVER CHARGED AFTER MAY ALTERCATION WITH PEDESTRIAN

GRAVENHURST — A Severn township man already in custody — for leading police on a mobility scooter foot chase last week — faces new separate charges involving an altercation between a transport truck driver and pedestrian at the end of May.

Police were called to the first incident on Bethune Drive near Violet Street in Gravenhurst Sunday May 30 at 8:10 p.m.

The pedestrian mounted the transport truck and a confrontation ensued that resulted in the man falling as the truck was put in motion.

Police said at the time it was not a case of road rage.

As a result of the latest police investigation Travis Shelton, of Severn Township, was charged with:

• Dangerous Operation causing Bodily Harm CCC Sec 320.13(2);
• Failure to stop after accident CCC Sec 320.16(1).

Shelton was arrested June 23 and faces several charges including drug impaired operation of a mobility scooter after leading police on a brief foot chase.

He was denied bail June 25 and that charge and remained in jail awaiting trial

Shelton is scheduled for a second bail hearing on the latest charges on July 29, 2021.
