HUNTSVILLE MAN CHARGED IN HUMAN TRAFFICKING INVESTIGATION

ORILLIA — A Huntsville man faces sexual assault charges in a police human trafficking investigation.

Provincial police say today that members of the new Provincial Human Trafficking Intelligence-led Joint Forces Investigations, with assistance from the Orillia Crime Unit and detachment members, arrested and charged a multi-jurisdictional offender.

In May 2020, the investigation began with allegations made by a victim who did not get paid for their services.

During the OPP investigation, they say numerous other incidents dating back to 2010 were identified and additional victims came forward with similar complaints.

As a result of the investigation, 58-year-old Tony Orr has been charged with:

Sexual assault, Section 271 CCC (X3);

Communicate with anyone for the purpose of obtaining sexual services, Section 286.1(1) CCC (X1);

And, Fraud under $5,000, Section 380(1)(b) CCC (X2).

Orr is to appear in court Jan. 26, 2021.

Previous charges against him are already before the court.
