3 POLICE STOPS: VEHICLE CLOCKED ALMOST 60 KM/H OVER SPEED LIMIT; DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED; KILWORTHY MAN ARRESTED FOR NUDITY BEHIND WHEEL

MUSKOKA — Three recent police stops led to stunt driving, impaired and indecent exposure against local drivers.

Saturday, Oct. 3, just after 9:30 a.m., an officer in Huntsville conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 60, near Ragged Falls Park Road in Algonquin Highlands Township, stopped a vehicle travelling 138 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

And a 50-year-old Williamstown resident was charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive speed. The driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days, and the vehicle impounded for two weeks.

Huntsville driver charged with impaired

The day before, on Friday October 2, at about 10:30 p.m., police responded to reports of a disturbance involving two individuals in a vehicle on Aspdin Road in the Town of Huntsville.

Officers located the vehicle a short time later and initiated a traffic stop on Tait Street, where officers entered into an impaired driving investigation.

As a result, Cory Gooding, 32, of Huntsville, was charged with: Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

Kilworthy man, woman arrested in Orillia

And on Tuesday, September 29, about 6:20 a.m., Orillia OPP responded to a traffic complaint called in by a member of the public on Laclie Street near Fittons Road East.

Officers located the suspect vehicle and the driver in a state of undress.

An impaired driving investigation commenced by officers on scene. The driver was transported to the Orillia detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Kenneth Lough, 42, of Kilworthy, faces the following charges:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Nudity and Indecent Exposure
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

The passenger of the vehicle, Shelley Monteith, 60, also of Kilworthy, is charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

Lough and Monteith were released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia at a later date.

Additionally Lough had licence suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for a week.

Three drivers face multiple charges following police stops in Huntsville and Orillia the past week.
