POLICE INVESTIGATING SERIOUS MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT FRIDAY, AMONG SEVERAL RECENT END OF SUMMER 911 CALLS
MUSKOKA — Emergency service responded late Friday afternoon to a single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle.
On Friday, September 4, at 5:30 p.m., OPP, EMS and Huntsville Fire were called out to reports of a serious collision on Brunel Road, near Hillcrest Drive.
As a result, a 57-year-old male from Waterloo sustained life-threatening injuries. He was transported to HDMH before being transferred to a Toronto-area trauma centre.
A section of Brunel Road was closed in both directions for several hours while the OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) team assisted with the investigation.

Attempted murder charges after vehicle fire
OPP in Huntsville have also arrested and charged a person in relation to an ongoing vehicle fire investigation.
On Thursday, September 3, at 5 a.m., emergency service responded to vehicle fire at a residence on East Waseosa Lake Road.
A person had suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital.
As a result, Tristin Taylor, 35, of Huntsville, faces the following Criminal Code offences:
- Attempt to commit murder, section 239(1)(b)
- Arson – disregard for human life, section 433(a)
- Aggravated assault, section 268
Taylor remained in custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
While the investigation is ongoing, preliminary evidence suggests this was an isolated incident and that there is no risk to public safety.
The Muskoka OPP Crime Unit is continuing to investigate, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from the Huntsville Detachment, OPP Forensic Identification Services, the OPP Emergency Response Team, and the Ontario Fire Marshal.

Police release photo of business B&E suspect
Police are seeking the public’s assistance after a break and enter at a business in Huntsville.
They say that on August 28, at about 1:47 a.m., officers responded to a call at a business on Main Street East, near Brunel Road.
Their investigation determined an unknown suspect broke a window to enter and stole an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing.

Five people taken to hospital in Lake of Bays accident
Another collision Aug. 27 had police, paramedics and Lake of Bays firefighters assisting.
At about 3:25 p.m. there were reports of an accident involving a 2026 Hyundai Palisade on Highway 117 near Longline Lake Road in Lake of Bays.
The driver and four passengers were transported to Huntsville District Memorial Hospital.
A 36-year-old female, from Whitby, was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre, with serious, life altering injuries.
Two other occupants sustained serious injuries, and two others suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Highway 117 was closed for several hours as officers conducted their investigation.

Police in Bracebridge charge 3 Muskoka drivers with impaired
August ended with another three drivers facing impaired operation charges.
- Saturday August 29 at 12:30 p.m. officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 11 North in Gravenhurst to investigate a Highway Traffic Act offence, which soon turned in to an impaired driving investigation.
They arrested and charged 52-year-old Salem Berday, of Bracebridge, with Impaired Operation and Driving while under suspension.
Berday is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge September 29.
- Monday, August 31, just before 4 a.m., a member of the public called police to report concerns about the condition of the operator of a motorcycle on Bethune Drive near Industrial Drive in Gravenhurst.
Officers located the vehicle at the same intersection and subsequently arrested and charged 48-year-old Bradley King, of no fixed address, with the following offences:
- Operation While Impaired- Drug
- Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand
- Operation While Prohibited
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking- Opioid
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking- Cocaine
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime
King was held in custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on September 1, 2026.
- And on Tuesday, September 1, at 1:50 a.m., another member of the public called police to report their concerns about the condition of a driver on Taylor Road in Bracebridge.
The driver was located on Manitoba Street.
Thomas Liddle, of Huntsville, was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation and Failure or refusal to comply with demand.
Liddle is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on October 13, 2026.
Police say the consequences for choosing to operate any vehicle while impaired include an immediate 90-day driver’s licence suspension and vehicle impoundment.
