ALGONQUIN PARK — A joint weekend safety inspection in Algonquin Park had the OPP and Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry checking drivers and laying charges.

The traffic enforcement initiative Friday, September 4, mostly along Hwy. 60 included 417 vehicles in a focus on traffic safety, vehicle compliance and education to ensure motorists were operating safely and responsibly within the provincial park.

As a result officers from the Huntsville and Bancroft detachments and MNRF officers laid charges under the Liquor Licence and Control Act (LLCA), the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and during Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) inspections, a release said Friday.

Police said no figures were available today, when contacted today.
