TEEN CHARGED TODAY WITH MULTIPLE OFFENCES AFTER POLICE STOP ATTEMPTED VEHICLE BREAK-IN IN BRACEBRIDGE
BRACEBRIDGE — Early this morning police on patrol here spotted two teens they accuse of attempting to break-in to a vehicle overnight.
The OPP say that on Friday, August 7, at 2:45 a.m., officers in the area of Armstrong Street when they came upon two young people allegedly attempting to break into a construction vehicle parked in a commercial parking lot.
Officers engaged with the young people, one of whom, a 14-year-old Bracebridge youth, was co-operative and able to have a conversation with officers about their conduct.
The second youth, a 16-year-old also from Bracebridge, did not respond well to officers and was subsequently arrested and charged with following offences:
- Possession of Break In Instruments
- Mischief
- Resist Peace Officer
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Being intoxicated in a public place
He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice Youth Court in Bracebridge on October 1, 2026.
The identity of the accused is protected under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
