GRAVENHURST — Better a day later … than yesterday.

Saturday’s deluge gave way to a brilliant Elderberries concert this afternoon as the popular choral group weathered the weather with their ‘Whether the Weather’ spring offering.

For a choir that’s sometimes battled Mother Nature, the always enjoyable ensemble presented a high and dry sold-out performance, under the direction of Louise Jardine, for enthusiastically receptive audience at Trinity United Church.

From “Sunrise” to “Whether the Whether,” and a thunder-clapping, drum-beating “Storm, Away from the Sea” and “Here Comes the Sun” the first half was climate friendly.

And the forecast for the second half was for more of the same.

“Singin’ In the Rain, Sunrise, Sunset, Over the Rainbow, Blue Skies, Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head, I Can See Clearly Now’” and their traditional closing of “Go Now in Peace” wrapped up an afternoon more than fair weather indoor singing.

From its enticing entrance and peaceful conclusion, the always popular and enjoyable Gravenhurst Elderberries Choir did it again this afternoon at Trinit United Church with another climate friendly concert. PHOTOS Mark Clairmonto MuskokaTODAY.com
Director Louise Jardine’s bright and sunny program included just enough drops of rain to satisfy the audience and gardeners this weekend.
Elderberry Diane Harrop bangs the drum slowly and loudly an lively during their performance of “Storm,” as sheets of rain fluttered behind her and flashes of lightening could occassionally be seen dancing off the walls.
The choral group even drew curious passersby into the church – if for nothing else but a photo-op.
