BRACEBRIDGE ROTARY’S STRAWBERRY SOCIAL SATURDAY PRELUDE TO MASSIVE STREET, MUSKOKA FALLS PARTY, FIREWORKS ALL CANADA DAY

Mark Clairmont | MuskokaTODAY.comBRACEBRIDGE — The Bracebridge Rotary Club began a busy Canada Day week Saturday with a deliciously sweet strawberry social at their Rotary Gardens.

With pounds and pounds of pound cake, vats of freshly whipped up cream and entertainment under the shade of tall trees and blossoming flowers, yesterday’s afternoon setting couldn’t have been more tasteful and tasty, too.

Rotarians served a mountain of cake, dolloped in fresh fruit and slathered in creamy delight as musical groups performed during the 3 to 4:30 p.m. community event at the corner of Taylor Road and Pine Street with more than 100 happy customers.

Not bad for just $5 per person – $10 per family. Now that’s giving back ‘Service Above Self.’

It was so amazing a bride having her wedding photos taken had to do a double-take.

It’s the kick-off to their huge Wednesday night July 1 fireworks display — the largest one north of Toronto they say.

And part of Bracebridge’s O Canada celebration that includes five musical acts performing at the new band shell in Memorial Park from noon to 4 p.m., followed down Manitoba Street with four more groups and finally two others at the Muskoka River wharf area just before the sensational sunset fireworks.

They’re easy to see from anywhere around the Bracebridge Bay — just not from the Silver Bridge this year due to construction, which is also causing them to juggle their presentation a little. In part apparently without the new use of drones that last year helped project images on the Bracebridge Falls.

Still, Rotarians will make sure it’s the greatest show on water this summer.
