GRAVENHURST — So much for trying to help out.

A 16-year-old Good Samaritan who was concerned about the wellbeing of an individual, offered to help and was instead met with a threat of violence last night, say police.

They say that on Sunday, June 14, at 9 p.m., officers responded to an incident in a parking lot on Muskoka Road South — near the Gateway arches.

Fortunately the youth was not injured.

But police have charged 58-year-old Bart Lawson, of Havelock, with Assault with a Weapon and Being Intoxicated in a Public Place.

Lawson is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on July 28, 2026.
