101-YEAR-OLD THE VICTIM OF A WOMAN, 45, ACCUSED OF TRYING TO BANK FRAUDULENT CHEQUE IN HUNTSVILLE LAST MONTH

HUNSTVILLE — A senior more than a century old was the victim of a Huntsville woman — more than half her age — who on Tuesday police say was charged with trying to fraudulently deposit the person’s cheque in a bank last month.
Police say that on Thursday, May 21, just after 2 p.m. officers were notified of suspected a fraud at a bank in town.
They were told a woman tried to deposit the cheque believed to be fraudulent.
Investigating officers discovered the cheque belonged to a 101-year-old resident.
As a result, on Tuesday, June 2, Crystal Shambrook, 45, of Huntsville, was charged with:
- Fraud Under $5,000
- Obtaining by False Pretence
Shambrook is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Tuesday, July 21st 2026.
Police did not say if there was any connection between the victim and the accused.
