IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES INCLUDE ROSSEAU MAN ALSO ARRESTED FOR CARELESS STORAGE OF FIREARM, PROHIBITED DEVICE OR AMMUNITION
MUSKOKA LAKES TWP. — Police and firefighters were called out Saturday afternoon after a member of the public dialled 911 concerned about the well-being of another driver who was stopped at a stop sign on Rosseau Lake Road 2 at Highway 141 in Muskoka Lakes Township.
OPP and members of the Muskoka Lakes Fire Department responded.
But the driver fled the area prior to the arrival police, but he was located a short time later.
Officers charged 40-year-old Mathew Williams, 40, of Rosseau, with Impaired Operation and Careless Storage of a firearm, prohibited device or ammunition X 2.
Williams is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice June 16, 2026.
Complaint about driver
Also Saturday, just after 5 p.m., officers responded to a traffic complaint regarding a suspected impaired driver.
As a result, they located the vehicle on Hiawatha Drive in the Huntsville.
And charge Dorothy Duck, 29, of Bracebridge, with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
Duck is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge at a later date.
Open liquor, cannabis available
The day before, on Friday, May 1, at 3:42 p.m., police were called to another suspected impaired driver.
After locating the vehicle on Highway 60, in Lake of Bays Township, Michael Legroulx, 49, of Pembroke was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
- Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
RIDE check leads to charge
The Wednesday before, on April 29, at 10:43 p.m., a RIDE check a Main Street West and Ferguson Road in pulled over another.
Officers initiated an impaired driving investigation and arrested Matthew Laurence, 41, of Huntsville charging him with: Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
