B&E SUSPECT CHARGED AFTER USING STOLEN CREDIT CARD IN KILWORTHY

GRAVENHURST — A Gravenhurst man is in bail court this morning on charges of break and enter after being spotted wielding a pair of axes ahead of break, enter and thefts in the Kilworthy area overnight March 5.
Yesterday police said they charged Brandon Tonna with multiple property crimes nine days ago.
They say that on March 5, at 4:27 a.m., officers were dispatched to break and enter and theft reports at residences in the south end of Gravenhurst.
The suspect entered vehicles and garages where he removed several items including cash, identification and credit cards.
Officers conducted an investigation and with the assistance of surveillance footage determined that the suspect used a stolen credit card at a nearby establishment.
Muskoka Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and Orillia CSCU executed a search warrant in the City of Barrie where the suspect was located and property belonging to the victims was recovered.
As a result of their investigation, police arrested and charged Brandon Tonna with the following:
- Operation While Prohibited CC 320.18(1)(a)
- Trespassing at Night CC 177 X 2
- Theft of Credit Card CC 342(1)(a)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime CC 354(1)(a) X 2
- Theft Under $5000 from a Motor Vehicle CC 334(b)
- Break, Enter dwelling house CC 348(1)(b)
- Theft Under $5000 CC 334(b)
- Mischief CC 430(1)(a)
- Fraud Under $5000 CC 380(1)(b)
Tonna was been held in custody for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice on Friday, March 14, 2025.
