DISPUTE LEADS TO WEAPONS CHARGES AFTER ALLEGED ASSAULT IN MUSKOKA LAKES TWP.
MUSKOKA LAKES TWP. — A dispute that led to tactical police being called about an assault and a firearm has led to four charges against a local man here last night.
The unidentified person was arrested and faces charges of Assault CC 266, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm CC 91(1) and Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition CC 86(1) X 2.
On Monday Nov. 18 just after 7:00 p.m., police were called to Doherty Road in Muskoka Lakes Township, during which one person had allegedly been assaulted.
When they arrived they learned that the responsible party had gone to an outbuilding and had made reference to a firearm, which caused the family to be concerned about his well-being.
With the assistance of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), the 48-year-old was taken into custody.
The accused is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge Dec. 17, 2024.
