TORONTO MAN’S BODY RECOVERED IN LAKE MUSKOKA SUNDAY AFTER KAYAKING ACCIDENT IN GRAVENHURST

GRAVENHURST — A 31-year-old Toronto man has drown Sunday in Lake Muskoka just before noon.

Police say the visitor to the area took a kayak out onto Lake Muskoka, near Taylor Island, and encountered difficulties causing him to enter the water.

OPP along with their Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) conducted a thorough search all afternoon and at 6:30 p.m. he was lifted from water dead.

Police would like to thank members of the public for their support and information during this search.

The drowning occurred April 28, at 11:20 a.m., after police say “loved ones” called 911 to report a 25-30-year-old male in the water.

Police in south Muskoka, along with Muskoka EMS and the Gravenhurst Fire were called to an address on Muskoka Road 169 near Glen Echo Road in Gravenhurst.

The search began quickly and the Bracebridge OPP marine unit members attended to assist in the search.

The Toronto man, who visiting Gravenhurst, took the kayak out and experienced difficulties says “loved ones” who reported the incident to police at 11:20 a.m. Sunday.
