MUSKOKA — As the community independently debates the state of local hospitals and its reponse to changes, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare continues its own updates with a new release today as promised.

MAHC said “our commitment to enhancing healthcare in our community is taking a significant stride forward.”

And that they are on the path to an important submission to the government to rebuild our local hospitals. This is a much-needed development to ensure we are able to continue to provide top-notch healthcare services.

Key to this process is our active engagement with employees, physicians and the broader community to gather insights, address concerns, and incorporate valuable feedback into our government proposal.

Negative responses to a model of healthcare in Muskoka that would significantly alter hospital usage in south Muskoka and Huntsville has forced MAHC to take a further look at what patients and the public want from their hospital in the next 50 years.

Friday’s release says:

Ongoing Collaboration with Employees

We know our employees understand the day-to-day operations of our hospitals best. We will continue to work collaboratively with our team members to gather their input and address their concerns.

Active Engagement with Physicians

Understanding the critical role our healthcare professionals play in delivering quality care, we are in the midst of a focused engagement process with our physicians. “Our doctors are at the heart of our healthcare services. Listening to their insights and addressing any concerns is important as we shape the proposal for our new hospitals,” said Cheryl Harrison, President and CEO, at MAHC.

Continued active dialogue ensures that the plan we submit is not only comprehensive but also reflective of the needs and expectations of our healthcare providers.

Community Involvement is Next

With the physician engagement phase underway, we are eagerly preparing to broaden the conversation to include our community members. Your experiences, needs, and ideas are crucial to building a healthcare system that truly serves everyone. Information on how to participate in these vital discussions will be announced shortly.

Stay Informed and Engaged

To keep everyone updated on the progress of our plans and upcoming engagement opportunities, MAHC will be releasing weekly updates. We encourage all community members to sign up at redevelopment@mahc.ca to receive these updates directly.

“Collaboration is key to our success. By working together, listening carefully, and responding to feedback, we’ll ensure our health system and our facilities are rebuilt to meet the high standards our community deserves,” added Ms. Harrison.
