THREE IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES LAID THREE DAYS IN A ROW

MUSKOKA — Police charged three people with impaired driving offences over the weekend.

Early this morning, January 28, at 2 a.m. a member of the public called police to express their concerns about a person’s ability to drive after they left an address in Bracebridge. Police conducted patrols and located and stopped the vehicle on Bethune Drive in Gravenhurst.

As a result of their investigation, police arrested and charged 47-year-old Jennifer Racicot, of Gravenhurst, with Operation While Impaired- Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b).

Racicot is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on March 12, 2024.

Last night, January 27, at 10 p.m. police responded to a dispute between two people who were travelling on Peninsula Road in Gravenhurst.

Officers attended, commenced an investigation and arrested and charged 60-year-old Scott Mansbridge, of Huntsville, with Impaired Operation CC 320.14(1)(a).

Mansbridge will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on February 20, 2024 to answer to his charge.

Friday, January 26, 2024 at 9 p.m., a member of the public called police about a vehicle that was in the ditch on Muskoka Road 169 near Redwood Road in Muskoka Lakes Township.

The caller stopped to assist and became concerned about the person’s ability to drive.

Officers responded and subsequently arrested and charged 26-year-old David Baldwin, of Gravenhurst, with the following:

  • Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(b)
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition CC 92(2)
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order CC 145(5)(a) X 2

Baldwin was held in custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on January 31, 2024 to answer to his charges.

The consequences for impaired driving in the province of Ontario, beyond the criminal charge, includes a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and a 7 day vehicle impound.

OPP charged three different people with impaired operation between Friday and early this morning.
