‘OLD FOGEYS’ TO REUNITE AUG. 23 FOR RETURN OF ‘BROWN BAG LUNCH’ IN GRAVENHURST

GRAVENHURST — COVID may have meant out of sight — but not out of mind friends.

So next Wednesday’s “reunion” of old school mates is looked forward to by many here from GHS.

An annual tradition before the pandemic, the “Brown Bag Lunch” was always a chance to catch up with those they grew up with or worked with. Anyone who even lived in the Gateway to Muskoka.

It’s a lot of fun. The last one was 2019.

After long-time organizer Betty Allen moved the Soo, friend Jane Templeton took on the task of organizing the casual event Aug. 23 at Gull Lake Rotary Park pavilion from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. — or whenever the last youthful story is told and retold.

“This is the old fogeys reunion,” says Rusty Draper.

“Betty now lives in Sault Ste. Marie and found it was becoming more difficult for her because of the distance. We all thank Betty for her amazing efforts in organizing the past events.

“But to the rescue came Jane Templeton. We can’t thank Jane enough.

“So if you’re a former GHS student, please come with your brown bag and tell other classmates in case they haven’t heard.”

Brown Baggers have enjoyed years of get-tegethers, including this group back in 2018. The last funfest was 2019.
