TEEN GIRLS ARRESTED AFTER HIGH SCHOOL ASSAULT REPORT INVOLVING SOCIAL MEDIA VIDEO

HUNTSVILLE Two teenage girls face assault, theft, weapon and forcible confinement charges after a physical altercation occurred between students at a high school in Huntsville this week.

On Wednesday, May 24, at about 1:45 p.m., police were called by school staff to report a possible assault.

Officers began an investigation into the allegations and learned of a video circulating on social media involving the incident.

As a result, the two Huntsville girls, aged 15 and 17, were charged with:

  • Assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Forcible confinement

The two are to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date. Their identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

Investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.
