BRACEBRIDGE DRIVER WHO FLED RIDE CHECK FACES THREE CHARGES MONTH LATER
MUSKOKA LAKES — A month after fleeing a RIDE check in Port Carling, a Bracebridge driver has been charged with impaired driving.
Police say that on Dec. 9, just after 11:15 p.m., officers were conducting a RIDE check on Medora Street at Ferndale Road in the Township of Muskoka Lakes.
When a vehicle approached and stopped to speak with police as directed, the officer requested the driver to pull to the side while he conducted further investigation into his ability to drive.
The driver then fled the area causing officers to take action to avoid the vehicle.
Officers continued their investigation into the incident and on Friday Jan. 6 arrested and charged 34-year-old Alex Vanderjagt, of Muskoka Lakes Township, with Dangerous Driving CC 320.13(1), Obstruct Peace Officer CC 129(a) and Fail to Stop for Police HTA 216(1).
He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge, Feb. 7, 2023.
