HISTORICAL SEX CHARGES INVOLVING MINOR LAID AGAINST MAN IN LAKE OF BAYS BETWEEN 1994-96

HUNTSVILLE A Midland man was being held for a bail hearing today charged in a case of historical sex offences involving a minor in Lake of Bays Township.

Provincial police at Huntsville and the Muskoka Crime Unit say that in July 2021, police received information about a sexual assault of a minor that took place between 1994 and 1996 in Lake of Bays Township.

As a result of an investigation, on Oct. 11, 2021, Ronald “Ron” Comber, 71, of Midland, was arrested and charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada (CC):

Sexual Assault on a Person under 16 years of age, CC s.271 – three counts

Sexual Interference, CC s.151 – three counts

Invitation to Sexual Touching under 16 years of age, CC s.152

Comber was held in custody pending today’s bail hearing.

Police investigators believe there may be more victims.

A Midland man faces multiple sex assault charges, which the OPP say may involve others dating back to 1994 to 1996.
