$763,000 TO HELP 843 MUSKOKA HOMES GET HIGH-SPEED INTERNET

MUSKOKA — The province is providing up to $763,000 to Muskoka Lakes and Georgian Bay townships to connect 843 households in Parry Sound-Muskoka that are either un-served or under-served by high-speed internet.

“I am very pleased to see this investment in increasing internet accessibility across Ontario,” said MPP Norman Miller said in a release today.

“It is another step closer to achieving our government’s goal to connect every person in Ontario to high-speed internet by 2025.

Kinga Surma, Minister of Infrastructure, announced Ontario is investing $14.7 million as part of the Improving Connectivity for Ontario (ICON) program, which will support 13 projects, across 42 communities, connecting 17,000 households to reliable, high-speed internet.

High-speed internet is becoming an essential service for Muskokans as demonstrated by the pandemic. And the province is providing funding to connect 843 more local homes in Muskoka Lakes and Georgian Bay.
