O’LEARY TRIAL OPENS IN TO FATAL 2019 BOATING ACCIDENT

PARRY SOUND — More details are emerging today of a deadly boating crash Aug. 24 2019 on Lake Joseph as the trial of Linda O’Leary opened up in a provincial courtroom here.

The wife of Kevin O’Leary, who was in court this morning, has pleaded not guilty to careless operation of a vessel under the Canada Shipping Act.

According to early reports from this morning, speed was a factor said a passenger on the star-gazing boat that was in a collision with the O’Leary boat at 11:30 p.m.

ER doctor Irv Edwards said he could clearly hear the O’Leary’s boat loudly and expected it to pass on either side.

Gary Poltash, 64, of Florida and Suzana Brito, 48, of Uxbridge died as a result of the collision. Three others were injured.
