SIMCOE-MUSKOKA — The region saw another +100 day today.

COVID cases increased by an unlucky 13 Saturday with 114 people testing positive since Friday in Simcoe-Muskoka.

Yesterday, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit had reported 510 cases for the week — Sunday to Thursday. That’s down considerably from 657, which included Easter weekend, but 46% higher than the 451 cases starting March 28.

Public Health Ontario reported the increase this morning, while the total number of 34 health units from across the province displayed numbers that were down just under 500.

Ontario’s 4,362 cases were better than the 4,812 a day ago. Though, 25 more people died in the past 24 hours.

Toronto, too, was down to 1,162 from 1,469, as was York Region with 11 fewer positives day over day at 430.

Peel, however, was up 85 to 936.

North Bay-Parry Sound was at 1 case.

This as some police forces are revolting against the Ontario government by refusing to enforce lockdown orders.

And criticism from civil liberty opponents and health officials who wanted more stringent health restriction has the Doug Ford Conservative government reportedly considering scaling back some of their lockdown rules and re-opening parks and playgrounds amid the backlash.
