SIMCOE-MUSKOKA — With 25 cases today and a COVID budget today, the province says Phase 2 vaccine guidelines will allow some Ontarians over age 50 in high-risk areas to get vaccinated.

Ontario reported 1,571 cases today and 10 deaths.

As well, people in three levels of high risk will also be first in line from April to mid-May. They include:

Highest risk: Organ transplant recipients, certain stem cell recipients, those with neurological diseases in which respiratory function may be compromised, those with haematological cancers, and those with kidney disease.

High risk: Those who are obese, or are receiving treatments causing immunosuppression, and those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

At risk: People with a stroke, autoimmune disorders, diabetes, respiratory diseases, dementia, all other types of cancer, heart disease, hypertension with end organ damage, mental disorders, substance use disorders, sickle cell disease, pregnancy, immunocompromising health conditions, liver disease, spleen problems, thalassemia, and disabilities requiring direct support care in the community.

The province announced the changes last night.
