SEARCH WARRANT ON SOUTHWOOD ROAD LEADS TO DRUG CHARGES

GRAVENHURST — A joint drug investigation underway since July, which included a rural search warrant here last week, has led to multiple charges against two people from Midland and one each from Essa and Wasaga Beach.

Provincial police say Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) members from their Southern Georgian Bay, Orillia, Bracebridge and Huntsville detachments ended the drug and weapons investigation with four final search warrants.

They say that on Feb. 12 with the assistance of the OPP Central Region K-9 Unit OPP officers executed a search warrant on a Hartman Drive, Midland residence.

The same day CSCU officers assisted by the OPP Central Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant at a second residence on Southwood Road in Gravenhurst.

Two involved vehicles were also identified and became subjects of the two remaining search warrants after being transported to the Southern Georgian Bay detachment.

Police say in a release that with the search warrants they found Oxycodone pills, 345 pot plants, 15.7 pounds of cultivated cannabis, $57,435.00 in cash, a crossbow and ammunition.

Police arrested and charged the four people last Friday:

  • Jamie Marshall Robitalle, 44, of Midland is charged with:

Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin). Contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act

Cultivate, propagate or harvest any cannabis plant at a place that is not their dwelling-house (or offer to do so) and Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling. Both charges contrary to the Cannabis Act

Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order (six counts)

Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

All charges contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

  • Stephanie Stainton, 36, of Midland is charged with:

Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin). Contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act

  • Darlene Bowan, 50, Essa Township, is charged with:

Cultivate, propagate or harvest more than four plants at one time in dwelling-house. Contrary to the Cannabis Act

  • Darryl Walter Durkee, 39, of Wasaga Beach, is charged with:

Cultivate, propagate or harvest more than four plants at one time in dwelling-house. Contrary to the Cannabis Act

All four were released from police custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on March 25, 2021.

They are part of a drug and weapons investigation that in early December saw related charges against three other people in Tay Township and Innisfil. Those charged include: Kyle Gonsalves, 27, and Emily Bergman, of Innisfil, and Jessie Deschamps, 27, of Tay Township.
