RAMARA WOMAN’S DEATH LEADS TO FIRST DEGREE MURDER CHARGE

RAMARA — A local man is in police custody awaiting a court appearance Tuesday on first degree murder and attempted murder charges after a woman was found dead late Saturday night in the home they shared.

Police say residents in the area should expect to see an increased police presence in the coming days as the investigation unfolds.

And that there is no threat to public safety at this time.

They say that on Feb. 13 at 11:30 p.m., OPP at Orillia, the Rama First Nation Police Service and Simcoe County Paramedic Services responded to a 911 call on Monck Road in the Township of Ramara, just north of Orillia, Ontario.

When officers arrived they found two victims in the residence.

A post mortem examination will occur later this week to determine the cause of death.

A 30-year-old male resident of the same household was arrested at the scene charged with one count of First Degree Murder and one count of Attempted Murder.

His identity of the accused is being withheld for the time being to protect the identity of the victims.
