PET PERISHES IN $400,000 FIRE ON PAINT LAKE ROAT LAST NIGHT

LAKE OF BAYS Firefighters battled heavy fire and frigid temperatures last night to bring a house fire blaze under control last night.

The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire on Paint Lake Road at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28.

Crews from Baysville Station 40 with assistance from Algonquin Highlands Fire Department encountered flames through the roof from the fire that had already engulfed the home.

A male occupant managed to escape the blaze and is being treated for injuries sustained.

However, a pet dog did perish in the fire.

The building sustained extensive damage with damage estimated at $400,000.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has been called in to investigate the origin, cause and circumstances.

An overnight fire last night on Paint Lake in Lake of Bays left a man suffering serious injuries and a pet dying.
