10 IMPAIRED CHARGES DURING HUNTSVILLE RIDE CAMPAIGN

HUNTSVILLE A five-week RIDE campaign here ended with an average of two people a week being charged with impaired driving over the run-up to Christmas and after New Year’s.

Starting Nov. 26, the Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) Program started across Ontario and ended Jan 2.

The provincial police detachment at Huntsville set up 89 RIDE check stops on roads throughout the Huntsville and Lake of Bays township.

Ten drivers were charged with impaired driving.

Festive RIDE is one of 10 annual provincial traffic safety campaigns that help reduce the incidence of impaired driving on area trails and roads in north Muskoka.

Police remind drivers that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when operating a motor vehicle.

OPP at Huntsville charged 10 drivers during a five-week RIDE campaign that included setting up 89 roadside driver checks ending on Saturday.
