YOU KNOW CHRISTMAS IS COMING WHEN FESTIVE R.I.D.E. ARRIVES
HUNTSVILLE — Christmas came early for a Huntsville man accused of being drunk behind the wheel in a morning police check.
Just days before Muskoka officers kicked off their annual Festive RIDE campaign today, Nov 26, Sean Cooper was himself taken for a ride — to the Huntsville detachment.
On Saturday Nov. 21 police were doing a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) spot check on Ravenscliffe Road.
At 8:15 a.m. a car being driven by Sean Patrick Cooper, 45,was stopped and officers say they detected the odour of alcohol coming from him.
They say a roadside screening device (ASD) check was administered at the scene resulting in a fail reading.
Cooper was arrested and transported to the OPP detachment in Huntsville for further testing.
As a result Cooper was charged with operation of a motor vehicle with an impaired-blood alcohol concentration of 80-plus, contrary to section 320.14 (1)(b) of the Criminal Code. Cooper was released to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Huntsville, Dec. 16, 2020.
