HUNTSVILLE RESIDENTS CHARGED IN MOTEL ROOM ROBBERY

HUNTSVILLE — A man and woman are in bail court this morning accused of violence in motel robbery robbery yesterday.

Police and the Muskoka Crime Unit are investigating the robbery Monday, Nov. 16, at 12:35 a.m. on King William Street.

They say two suspects were in the victim’s room and a physical altercation ensued, after which the suspects fled.

No medical injures were reported.

Later yesterday, officers arrested both the accused.

Marc Gates, 25, of Huntsville is charged with:

  • Robbery with violence contrary to section 343 (a) of the Criminal Code of  Canada
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 contrary to section 355 (b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

Taylor Sovereign, 26, also of Huntsville, is charged with:

  • Robbery with violence contrary to section 343 (a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to section 7333.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Mischief to property contrary to section 430 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Uttering threats to cause bodily harm contrary to section 264.1 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
