SIMCOE-MUSKOKA — Simcoe-Muskoka went up and Ontario down today in COVID accounting.

The local region — which is now in Ontario’s yellow protect COVID zone — posted 31 new cases Monday Nov. 17 and the province 1,249.

Quebec and Manitoba were also down at 982 and 270 cases respectively.

A Gravenhurst woman, aged 35-44 with close contact, and a Huntsville man 45-64 who is still under investigation are the only confirmed positive test cases in Muskoka.

There was no mention of a staff member at The Pines LTC in Bracebridge reporting positive last Saturday.

They are among 117 people already positive this week since Sunday.

And the province is also talking about extending the school winter break. They will decide the next two weeks.

The province downgraded Simcoe-Muskoka into the yellow zone last week due to rising cases, which means more restrictions.
With 31 more cases today, Simcoe and Muskoka are well into the province’s new yellow protect zone.
