STOLEN AUTO DRIVER HITS MAIN STREET TREE, CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED

BRACEBRIDGE — A man who crashed a stolen auto into a tree on the main street here early yesterday has been charged with impaired driving.

Police say they were dispatched on Sept. 16, at 6:30 a.m., to the collision on Manitoba Street.

The driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries and an investigation revealed he did not have permission to be driving the vehicle.

Police arrested and charged 25-year-old Jacob Dewasha, of Bracebridge, with:

Failure to Comply with Demand CC 320.15(1)

Fail to Report Accident HTA 199(1)

Dewasha, who is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge Nov. 24, had his driver’s licence automatically suspended for 90 days.

An early morning accident yesterday on Bracebridge’s main street has led to impaired charges against a local man.
