DEATH NOTICE: CHERYL BALLANTYNE, SEPT. 3, 2020

BALLANTYNE, CHERYL: Our family is grieving the loss of a wonderful wife, gramma, aunt, sister-in-law and friend, suddenly, but peacefully, at LHSC on Thursday September 3rd, after a long battle with metastatic breast cancer.

She is survived by her husband, Steve; beloved grandchildren Elizabeth and Jack; and her step-son Michael Moore (Brooke) of St.Thomas.

She will be missed greatly by the Ballantyne Clan: Sister-in-law of Paul and Pat Ballantyne, Phillip and Janet Ballantyne, Barb and Gord Horman, and Kris and Mike Lewis.

Aunt of Krista (Dustin), Jordan (Alysia), Jeremy (Shannen), Brennan (Amanda), Emily (Mark) Devin (Pat), Daniellle (Nigel), Cathleen (Shaun), Shannon, Jessica (Andrew), Scott, Tracy, Sherry and Rick.

Great Aunt of Harlow, Cruz, Weston, Hudson, Avery & Quinn, Sophia, James, Olivia and Oliver.

Cheryl has many cousins in the Muskoka region.

Cheryl was an outstanding athlete both in high school and the University of Guelph.

She was a valued coach and educator with the London District School Board and Thames Valley District School Board — and she continued her coaching with her beloved grandchildren.

Her smile and community service with the Dorchester IODE will be missed.

Our thanks for the support and the assistance of her long-time golf and special friends: Bernice, Polly, Tammy, Kate, Sherry, Bernene and Catherine.

As well, a huge appreciation and thank you to the Fox Hollow neighbours.

Thank you to Dr. J. Younus and the amazing nurses of the LHSC Cancer Unit for their care, treatment and compassion.

According to Cheryl’s wishes, we were able to donate her corneas. Two people will now hopefully see through sparkling eyes.

There will not be a funeral service. Cremation has taken place.

Her ashes will be taken home and scattered in her beloved Muskoka, as promised.

Williams Funeral Home in St. Thomas is in charge of all arrangements.

Cheryl Ballantyne, an accomplished athlete at Gravenhurst High School and the University of Guelph, was also a an educator and coach in London, where she died Sept. 3, 2020. She was the daughter of Orvil and Millie Rowe.
